Knight Ridder experiments with site registration
In what is surely an indication of things to come, KansasCity.com, the Knight Ridder Website, now requires registration in trade for free content. Knight Ridder says Kansas City is a test market for the concept. I think this is the way to go for TV station Websites as well. It’s going to be the standard in the months ahead, and data mining is a tried and true method of making money online, for it makes targeted advertising possible. Of all the sites that do this, I like the New York Times the best. It’s nearly effortless.
