Here comes real TV on the Web
In a move that must send a big chill down the collective spines of television network executives, ESPN.com is reporting that the NBA will present a live video stream of the Oct. 19 game between LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers. Major League Baseball is similarly streaming live pregame shows during the playoffs. As I’ve reported in the past, if programming sources can “broadcast” programs, what’s the need for network distribution channels?
