Fun with spam comments

As a WordPress blogger, I regularly empty out the spam comments that the wonderful plug-in Akismet grabs and puts in stasis for me. Once in awhile (usually when I’m trying to avoid work), I’ll scan the spam just to keep up with what’s going on out there. Folks, it’s pretty hilarious.

Comment spammers run the gamut from individuals to software engines that do the work for people, and these comments are all designed with one purpose in mind: use my reach to generate Google juice for themselves or their paying clients. They include porn (including kiddie), sexual enhancements, gambling, weight loss, endless lists of links upon links, and anything else you can imagine. Here are few from today’s droppings. Remember, these are meant to look like comments to various postings of mine:

By comparison a score of 620–659 qualifies you for a loan at 12 percent, which increases your payments on the same loan by $63 to $831. Thats really making nuts.
I can’t believe that I missed your point, I will have to do some research on this.
And the always favorite: Some great stuff on this website. Keep up the good work!

Now back to your regularly-scheduled program.
