Everybody is hurting financially

TV isn’t the only world hurting
A new round of budget tightening at Time Inc. means no raises for executives who make $150,000+. There’s a hiring freeze in effect too. The problem is ad revenues for magazines. And in a Denver Post column reminiscent of the rants on the TVSpy Watercooler, retired columnist Barrie Hartman bemoans the loss of excellence in the newspaper world brought about by budget restraints. The problem, folks, isn’t a loss of advertising or perplexed managers who are forced to trim fat (and sometimes muscle). The culture in which we live has changed, and like the proverbial frog in the hot water, we’re oblivious to the rising temperature.
